Journal 5/52: Quote to Live By

Words to live by. These four words have resonated with me for nearly 5 years, and it continues to do so. It’s the lens I look from whenever I find myself in a new environment. It’s my refresh button when I feel tired of the routines, the nine to five, stagnant energy, even the weather. I have so much to be thankful for, and I count my blessings every day.

30 seconds of today

Playing around with different mediums to blog/vlog my life. Video snippets from this slow and relaxing evening — post-swim, high tide, and making dinner.

26th. Always Grateful.

Before today ends, I just want to share how incredibly grateful I am for these 26 years of living. This birthday weekend has been absolutely exceptional!

Charles at Fatu Ma Futi

A few weeks ago with Gabs and Charles — playing around with poses at Fatu Ma Futi right before we got shoo’d away because we didn’t realize it was sā lol

SESSIONS: Suli Sataua Slays Prom 2017

Suli Sataua slayed in her prom dress! Her senior prom theme: fire and ice. But no doubt, when she mixes the two, she is FIERCE. I was excited and nervous for this session. But Suli was wonderful! She killed it in front of my lens and was really fun to take photos of!

SESSIONS: Charity, Mee Rae, and Daniel

Sunset beach session with these bright eyed beauties, capturing two decades of Charity and Mee Rae’s friendship.

Create: February on Paper

February was a good month for my creative process. I’m essentially rekindling my childhood passion for all things analog and DIY.

In a creative funk and how I cope

As a creative, I find myself in a funk more often than I want to admit. I question myself and doubt my creativity, but I have a few ways of coping.

DIY Upcycled Tahiti-Inspired 2-Piece Outfit

My best friend was doing a closet clean out, and this bright red puletasi skirt stuck out among the pile, reminding me vividly of French Polynesia.

You are the greatest project you will ever work on

You are the greatest project you will ever work on

I put this lil mood board together when I was in a funk about a month ago. I clearly haven't been sharing much on here, but I think I'm ready to come back to my online home. This was nice to find in my drafts though because it's a reminder that I am always a work in...

How are you?

How are you?

Hi hello how are ya? But no really... how are you doing? Hanging in there? To be honest, I've been struggling to maintain a good head space. The last couple of months have felt really chaotic, I have had very little motivation and yet somehow I've been super...

Reminders To Self

Reminders To Self

The last few weeks have been up and down and all around for me. I've been finding myself to be more distracted these days, less motivated, and out of rhythm in my routines... and that sucks. I'm working on feeling all these feelings, processing, letting go, and trying...

DDW Breakfast with Gabs

DDW Breakfast with Gabs

[August 27, 2021] After the beach gathering in honor of Gabs' film mentor, Gabby and I went over to DDW to grab an early breakfast. It was still very early, 20 minutes before they opened, so we hung out on the relatively new seawall and let our minds wander over the...

Photo Journal: South to North Island, New Zealand

Sharing another long forgotten photo journal recovered from my drafts folder. I'm slowly clearing that out, and so please don't mind me daydreaming about these travel throwbacks. Oh, the wanderlust... I feel it coming. This was from my late 2016, early 2017 trip to...

Photo Journal: Couples Camping Trip

Photo Journal: Couples Camping Trip

Found this in my drafts folder... a photo journal of camping with my husband and our friends, Traci and Ano, back in May 2021. I think we timed this camp trip right on time for me and Ian's anniversary weekend. Many thanks to the Gurr family for always being so warm...

A Sunny Home Tour

A Sunny Home Tour

The morning sun is up in the sky, streaming through the windows at home. I am always inspired by the way the light hits—sunbeams dancing with the shadows of tall coconut trees. I felt compelled to pick up my camera on this particular morning and take photos in and...

Monday Day Dreaming

Monday Day Dreaming

Happy Monday friends! It's that time of the week again. A brand new day to start again, or to continue trucking on. Today's mood board is about the simple things in life. I am definitely living one version of my dream life here at home, for which I am so grateful. I...

Making Siapo with Fa’aSamoa Arts

Making Siapo with Fa’aSamoa Arts

What is Siapo? Siapo is an ancient Samoan art form, similar to painting, but instead the canvas is called tapa (made by pounding barkcloth stripped from the mulberry tree), the paintbrush is a paogo (pandanus seed), and the inks are made from nature. The lama (black...

LONG HAIR DON’T CARE: Getting My Hair done

In my last life lately update, I totally forgot to mention another lil update I wanted to log for future me to look back on... I got my hair done for the first time since like Christmas of 2019! It's grown very long... from my shoulders, now down to my waist. I still...

I have so much love and respect and stoke for the ocean and those that call it home — Shot these a couple weeks ago during an outreach boat trip on assignment with National Marine Sanctuary of American Samoa (where I work as a communications and outreach coordinator),...

Life Lately: A Roundup Reel + Get In My Headspace

Hi hello how are ya — I shared this round up reel on instagram which pretty much highlights my entire month of July in half second snippets... and shared in the caption how I'd been feeling. https://www.instagram.com/p/CSLyvj8FNnK/ And with that... here are a few...

Sunday Lazies

Sunday Lazies

We are geezers, I'm tellin' ya! We went out to Flying Fox on Saturday night, and did some karaoke at our neighbors house after, and we drank maybe like 4 drinks each, but that was enough to wipe us out all of Sunday. Like, we were sooo tired and felt like crap! I...

Moonrise Over the Ocean

Moonrise Over the Ocean

The neighborhood dogs are howling into the night, echoing each other without a pause, as I walk over the freshly cut grass of the lawn, past the paved road, and climb up the wooden steps to the treehouse. My husband and several of our friends are sitting on the pier,...

Snorkeling in Gataivai

Snorkeling in Gataivai

Living next to a beach is pretty freaking awesome. I can get in the water as often as I want, whenever I want... well, except on Sundays unfortunately, as is the current rule in my village peninsula. So on this particular Sunday, I needed some saltwater therapy after...

Sleepy sleepy

Sleepy sleepy

On Sunday morning, I felt so fatigued from the DIY project my husband and I started the day before; but we ran out of materials to complete the project and couldn't drive back to Ace to get more because it was, after all, a mandatory day of rest. So I slept in... and...

Weekend Reel — Paddling in the Lagoon

Weekend Reel — Paddling in the Lagoon

It was a sunny day in mid-May. I had gotten up early and was feeling restless. I cleared the drying rack, washed the dishes, and worked on repotting some plants and mixing soil for the balcony garden. Ian and I chatted with his parents on FaceTime. Then it was high...
