Super Pink Moon

Apr 25, 2020Lifestyle, Photo Diaries

We waited in the water until dusk. The moon was expected to ascend from the horizon at 6:30pm. The tide was high, the water a balance of cool and warmth. I couldn’t resist leaping from the wooden pier a couple of times, splashing in the stronger than usual current. With bated breath, my friends and I waited for the glow of the moon to peek through the dark clouds. Dripping in salt, I rushed to the boat ramp to grab my camera and fiddle with the manual settings. Having had a Canon DSLR for the past 10 years, and making the switch to Sony mirrorless, I’m still learning all the functions of my equipment. The moon rose quickly, alternating between peeking and hiding behind moist sky shadows. More friends and neighbors filtered to the beach attracted to the bright and awe inspiring super pink moon. Separate togetherness, even in the time of COVID… these moments prompt us to respect our planet Earth and marvel at her beauty.
